Some Very Special Kids

Can I just tell you how much I love my job? Back in November I had the opportunity and honor to photograph some very special kids with the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. They ranged in age from 18 months to 18 years. Each is either a current or past patient of CT Children's. Talk about inspiration. These kids have endured pain, stress and emotions that many adults will never have to experience. But at the end of the day, as you will see from the portraits, they are just kids. And our hope was to capture them as being just that. For more information or to support CT Children's Medical Center, please visit www.ccmckids.org.

CT Children's Medical Center

I had the honor of photographing some behind the scenes shots at CT Children's Medical Center in Hartford a couple of weeks ago. It was an emotional day to say the least. It was educational, challenging from a photographic standpoint, but above all it was inspirational. Not just because of the amazingly talented doctors and staff, who I am convinced perform miracles everyday. But it was the bond that you see between the patients, their families and the CT Children's staff that really impressed me. The amount of positive energy and spirit within those walls could fuel a small town (now if we could only harness that into some kind of green energy...), but I digress. The following is a short slideshow of my favorite images from my day at CT Children's Medical Center. Enjoy...

Mike & Ellen: 8.7.09

My assistant, Sue, and I had the pleasure of photographing Mike and Ellen's wedding on a gorgeous day in August at the Aqua Turf in Plantsville, CT. It was, well...picture perfect. Here's some of my favorites! Enjoy!

3 Lovely Ladies

My assistant, Ashley, and I had the pleasure of photographing three beautiful ladies last holiday weekend down in Westerly, RI...a daughter, mother and grandmother (or Mimi, as she is lovingly referred to). We shot at Wilcox Park (I think that is the name of it) in downtown Westerly. I could've shot there for hours. We had so much fun. Here are some of my favs:

We ran into this brave, little squirrel who actually followed us. Don't worry, he wasn't foaming at the mouth or anything. But when he realized that we weren't going to throw him any food, he left.

We ran into this fella and his owners while walking through the park. I am a sucker for boxers and couldn't resist snapping a few shots of this handsome guy.

Molly & Darin's Beantown Wedding

For those of you who can't remember what it was like to have a day without rain, let me remind you that May 30, 2009 was a gorgeous day here in the Northeast. It was the perfect day to get married. Molly and Darin were married in Winchester, MA with a reception that followed at the Seaport Hotel in Boston (which by the way was amazing). Here's some of my favorites from the day.

Chris & Erin's Wedding

It really is a small world! I met Chris and Erin for their wedding consultation back in early 2008. Erin had been referred to me by one of my brides, who is also Erin's co-worker. So, we met to go over my services, packages, etc. As we are talking, Chris says, "Are you related to Dave Fiereck?" I said, "Yes, he's my husband." Turns out, Chris and Dave went to elementary school together and played soccer together. I am always meeting new people and reconnecting with others through my job. It is a reminder of how interconneted we all really are. Anyways, Chris and Erin tied the knot on 5.16.09. It was a beautiful day and they were a wonderful couple to work with. And the wedding party was a fun group, too! Congratulations to Chris & Erin!

Mike & Janet (and Rocky and Casey, too)

Mike and Janet are tying the knot this August. We photographed their engagement session at Wickham Park in Manchester (one of my favorite places to shoot). They brought along their two dogs, Rocky and Casey. We went on a weekday in the morning, so the park was pretty quiet and the two pups could run around. It was pretty cloudy, which was nice for portraits. Check out more of my favorites on J. Fiereck Photography's Facebook page.
